Many
of the clients we work with do not have full-time management. The expense of
having someone full-time simply outweighs the benefits - especially for
established artists who can handle many of their own daily affairs.
But sometimes those affairs
become a major burden and prevent artists from doing what they do best -
creating, producing and performing music. More importantly, booking agents,
record label contacts, product reps and the many other players in an artists
career can become disconnected when they don't have a reliable contact.
| Orkin Marketing
pulls it all together for artists, helping them shape a vision,
integrate their contacts and stick to a plan. |
It helps
to have an outsider with "the view from 30,000 feet" to point out where
more can be done. It helps even more when that outsider is a
veteran marketer with whose main business is to develop the
business side of what an artist does.
Start with the little
things...
Our management responsibilities usually get assigned after we have begun
successful marketing campaigns for clients. They see us taking control
of the situation and tying everything together, and they want us to do
more. Many times,
this leads to coordination of CDs and merchandise being delivered to
shows, scheduling and managing photo shoots, working with companies the
artist endorses and much more. We simply react to what our clients need
done - and we're proactive in pointing out what we should be
doing.
What it costs...
There are many different kinds of
arrangements that can be made, but the common thread with each is that
Orkin Marketing is compensated for its time.
We first sit down with our
clients to help them understand their goals and objectives - and how we
can help them exceed both. Then, we provide a written plan that
summarizes what we will do and how long it will take.
Based on the amount of time we estimate
for the work, we are compensated in one of the following ways:
Hourly Time Charge:
we
estimate the number of hours we'll need for specific duties each
month and quote a monthly fee. As responsibilities are added, we amend
the quoted time, obtain the client's approval of the time we'll need and
adjust the fee.
Monthly Retainer:
we estimate the number of hours
we'll need for certain specific and non-specific duties, doing as
much work as is necessary for a set price. Every few months, we review
how many hours are being spent each month and adjust the retainer, if
necessary.
Project Fee:
we estimate the number of hours
we'll need to complete tasks on a project-by-project basis.
We should talk...
It doesn't cost anything to talk - to
brainstorm - about development, management...you name it. Drop us a line
or give us a call:
